The St George Football Associations (SGFA) Summer Football Competitions have concluded for the 2016 season with the three competition Grand Finals being played this week.

It was a fantastic first season that ws played on the all purpose synthetic pitch at Kyeemagh RSL & Community Club with more than 30 teams participating in the Association delivered program.

The SGFA Summer Football competition was 1 of 80 endorsed Football NSW programs across the State and also provided an opportunity for our All Age Womens team, Banksia Tigers FC, to participate in the Football NSW Champion of Champions.

SGFA General Manager Craig Kiely was excited by the success Summer Football achieved this season.

“Summer Football competition offers an exciting opportunity for players to continue their footballing experience throughout the year and importantly keep active in a fun, social environment”

“We are really pleased with how the competition was delivered this season and we are very confident that our numbers will grow in 2017.  Having discussed with other Associations who have delivered programs for the past few years and the evidence suggests that the number of teams and players grows substantially from year 1 to 2.”

“Naturally we will be hoping for the same in 2017 and are investigating options to deliver a second centre in the George River Council area.”

“There is enormous benefit in an Association supported and delivered program with all funds directed back to grassroots football.”

SGFA would like to thank Kyeemagh RSL & Community Club and the St George Randwick Hockey Club for their support of the program.
