One of Italy’s most iconic clubs, S.S. Lazio, will land in Sydney this January as part of a global scouting initiative designed to identify future professional talent.

Running January 12–23 at Barton Park, the Lazio Talent ID Camp is open to boys and girls aged 8–20, including goalkeepers. All training is delivered directly by current S.S. Lazio academy coaches and technical directors, giving young Australian players rare access to authentic Serie A-level methodology.

In a significant opportunity for Australian talent, two standout players will be selected for a fully sponsored trip to Rome where they will train inside the Lazio academy system and showcase their ability in a professional Serie A environment.

The initiative stems from Lazio’s growing interest in Australian footballers, a relationship built on famous Socceroos who previously wore the sky-blue shirt such as Mark Bresciano, Paul Okon and Chris Ikonomidis, and further strengthened by the increasing number of Australian men and women currently playing across Italy’s professional leagues.

“Lazio recognises that Australia is producing exceptional young players, and this camp is designed to bring that pathway much closer to home,” said Gilles Tour, Director of Tour Sports. “We’re excited to give Sydney players the chance to train under real Lazio staff and potentially earn the experience of a lifetime in Rome.”

St George FC, through its ongoing commitment to development and opportunity, is assisting with promoting the camp across the region.

“For players in the St George area, this is an extraordinary chance to be seen by one of Europe’s great clubs, right here in their own backyard. We’re pleased to help spread the word and ensure our community has access to opportunities of this calibre,” Tony Peters said.

Clubs within the St George region that share the opportunity through their channels can also access a rebate program, receiving $30 per player for the first 20 registrations and $50 per player thereafter, with Lazio and the organisers acknowledging those clubs in cases where a selected player progresses to Rome.

The camp schedule has been designed to run morning to early afternoon, allowing participants to continue attending regular club training.
