The 2025 Football St George Premier League competitions came to a thrilling conclusion, with three captivating Grand Finals that showcased the region’s depth of talent and competitive spirit across the Men’s, Women’s, and Reserves divisions.

Premier League Men

After finishing top of the table with 44 points, Arncliffe Aurora FC entered the finals as favourites, and they didn’t disappoint. Despite an opening-week setback against Dolls Point FC, Arncliffe fought their way back to the Grand Final, setting up a highly anticipated rematch.

The decider was a tense and tactical affair, ending 0–0 after 90 minutes before Dolls Point FC prevailed 4–3 in a nerve-shredding penalty shootout to lift the championship trophy.

“It was one of those games where neither side gave an inch,” said Dolls Point coach Juno Karaman. “Arncliffe have been the benchmark all year, so to beat them in a Grand Final like that says everything about the belief in this group.”

FSG CEO Gary Lockwood praised both clubs for setting a high standard throughout the season:

“This year’s Premier League Men’s competition was incredibly competitive, and the quality on display week-to-week was outstanding. Congratulations to Dolls Point on a well-deserved title and to Arncliffe Aurora for another exceptional season.”

Premier League Men – Reserves

Dolls Point FC completed a remarkable double, securing the Reserves crown after a strong 2–1 Grand Final win over Rockdale City Suns FC. The result capped off a dominant campaign, with Dolls Point showing consistency and depth across both senior squads.

“To win both the First Grade and Reserves titles is a testament to the strength of our club culture,” said first grade captain Angel Laguna. “We’ve built a program that develops players the right way, and this is the reward.”

Premier League Women

The Women’s Premier League was equally compelling, with Banksia Tigers FC emerging triumphant after a thrilling 2–1 victory over Oatley FC in the Grand Final. The Tigers bounced back from their Week 1 defeat to Oatley with grit and determination, overturning the result when it mattered most.

“The girls showed incredible heart,” said Banksia coach Nihad Alemic. “We’ve faced adversity all season, but the way they responded in the finals was inspiring.”

“It’s wonderful to see the women’s competition continue to grow,” added Gary Lockwood. “Clubs like Banksia Tigers and Oatley are raising the bar and providing fantastic opportunities for female footballers in our region.”

A Season to Remember

The 2025 season highlighted the strength of community football in the St George region, from the professionalism of the clubs to the passion of players, coaches, volunteers, and fans. With record participation numbers and growing support from valued partners such as McDonald’s, Pigeon Football, The Leader, and Sydney FC, Football St George continues to build pathways for players of all ages and backgrounds.

“Community football is the heartbeat of our game,” Lockwood said. “This season’s finals showed exactly why, skill, passion, and teamwork on display at every level.”
