The 2025 season was another milestone year for Football St George Powerchair FC, with the club competing strongly in both the NSWPFA Premiership and NSWPFA Championship competitions. Across both grades, the squad demonstrated skill, resilience, and unity, achieving key results and producing standout individual performances that underlined the depth of talent within the team.
Premiership Season Recap
In the top-tier Premiership competition, Football St George finished third on the ladder with a record of 7 wins, 5 draws, and only 4 losses from 16 matches. The team scored 28 goals and conceded 18, finishing with a healthy +10 goal difference and a total of 26 points.
The Premiership campaign was highlighted by consistent performances from experienced leaders and the integration of new recruits who brought fresh energy to the squad.
Abdullah Karim was a driving force, leading the entire competition with 13 goals and topping the assists tally with 11, a testament to his all-round influence on the court. Other key contributors included Mitchell Albert with 5 goals and Brad Bates and Chris Turnbull with 3 goals, who provided attacking flair and creativity.
Defensively, Jordan Crane and Chris Turnbull brought valuable stability and experience in their debut season with the club.
Championship Season Recap
The Championship side also enjoyed a strong campaign, finishing third with 6 wins, 2 draws, and 8 losses, amassing 20 points. The team netted 25 goals while conceding 30, a narrow negative goal difference that didn’t reflect the competitiveness of their matches.
In the Championship, Finn O’Donovan emerged as one of the season’s breakout players, contributing 8 goals and 8 assists and showcasing his ability to influence games in attack.
The side’s progression was most evident during the 2025 Club Championship, where St George made an impressive run to the semi-finals, finishing third overall, a result that marked one of the proudest achievements of the season.
Club Championship Success
The Club Championship format brought both Premiership and Championship squads together, testing depth and adaptability. St George’s third-place finish and semi-final appearance showcased the club’s collective strength across both grades.
As Abdullah Karim reflected:
“2025 definitely best eye opener was coming 3rd at the Club Championship so making the semi final, also picking up Jordan Crane and Chris Turnbull in our team… so having the new recruitments there with great experience!!”

“Being part of Football St George for the past two years has been the most exciting and rewarding part of my football journey. It’s where I’ve grown the most, bouncing back after every loss and creating unforgettable moments with my team.”
Finn O’Donovan’s family spoke about the off-field impact of the sport:
“Finn absolutely loved playing powerchair football for St George Football Club. Being part of the team has meant so much to him, not just for the love of the game but for the strong sense of community, friendship, and belonging it brings. The club has created such a positive and inclusive environment and the team spirit among the players is truly inspiring. Finn has felt consistently supported, encouraged and valued, both on and off the court, and we’re incredibly grateful for the dedication and care shown by everyone involved with the club.”
Ruby summed up the learning experience and the squad’s hunger to improve:
“It was a really good year; we all got a lot of experience in reserve grade and are looking to improve again next year.”

With strong results in both competitions, a semi-final appearance at the Club Championship, and several individual standouts across the season, Football St George Powerchair FC heads into 2026 with momentum and belief. The integration of experienced recruits with promising young talent has created a balanced and competitive squad, well-positioned to challenge for silverware in the coming year.
