Dear Football St George Community,
First and foremost, on behalf of the Football St George (“FSG”) Board we hope you and your families are all well and safe during these challenging and somewhat uncertain times.
We now provide you with an update to our earlier communiques in relation to the abandonment of the 2021 Winter Competition as a result of COVID-19, Government directives and restrictions.
With respect to registration fees, it should be noted that a player’s registration fee is made up of several components comprising levies applied by Football Australia and Football NSW, which includes personal accident insurance. FSG as your association, has petitioned Football NSW and Football Australia to again provide discounts on the registration levies, which is under consideration.
FSG is also undertaking its own financial review following the decision to abandon the season in order to further minimise our costs. Any financial relief we can secure will be provided to our member clubs.
A player’s registration fee is paid to and managed by the respective local club. The levies detailed above are all factored into the final fee, as are the other costs of playing football for your club, such as ground hire, uniforms, equipment, referees, lighting, trophies, maintenance, etc. It is not unreasonable to assume that clubs have incurred or locked in many of these costs at the start of the season. We are aware that many of the clubs committees are also reviewing their finances at this time and will convey back to their own players with specific updates or outcomes.
Please remember that local clubs are run by community volunteers that we all owe plenty to.
The FSG Board and the staff, take this opportunity to sincerely thank the FSG Football Family for tremendous patience and understanding during this difficult and quite unprecedented times.
As a passionate football region, we all disappointed with being in this position, but we look forward to 2022 with optimism and assure you FSG and all our Clubs will look out for or players interests at all times.
We encourage you all to continue to follow the health advice and look after one another. Stay Safe.
