The Draft Hurstville Oval and Timothy Reserve Plan of Management and Master Plan are on public exhibition at Your Say Georges River, and detail several proposed improvements to the sites including a potential new two-storey community pavilion.

Mayor of Georges River Council Kevin Greene explained that the Master Plan outlines a broad direction for the future use and development of the open space.

“I am delighted that Council is reviewing Hurstville Oval and Timothy Reserve, to further improve sport and recreation offerings in the Georges River, and the quality of life afforded to our residents,” said Mayor Greene.

“The Master Plan lists several proposed improvements including the redevelopment of the Players Pavilion into a café and sports museum, additional spectator seating and security fencing.

“The feasibility of a new community pavilion is being explored, which will cater to top grade sports events with features including change rooms, a referee’s room, a first floor viewing area and public amenities.

“The document also includes proposed upgrades to the existing turf practice wickets to include synthetic run ups, which will increase carrying capacity and reduce wear and tear.

“The Plan of Management will enable us to identify a vision for Hurstville Oval and Timothy Reserve that is reflective of the entire community’s needs and wants, and I encourage you to share your ideas for the sites either online at Your Say Georges River, by mail, by email or in hard copy,” added Mayor Greene.

The proposed new pavilion will feature a medical room, canteen and storage, with two possible locations under consideration. Additional improvements listed in the Master Plan include: regrading of the earth between Hurstville Oval and Timothy Reserve and improved access to the open space.
