Last Saturday evening, in between the mens and womens SGFA All Star game at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, the Richo Cup committee proudly presented a $10,000 cheque to Glenn Paull from the St George Cardiology Unit.

The RICHO Cup was launched in 2015 and is an annual event staged at Gannons Park.

The donation of $10,000 came from the proceeds of this year’s Richo Cup, which is held in honour much loved player, coach, committee member, community volunteer and family man Matt (Richo) Richardson. The RICHO Cup aims to bring clubs affiliated with the SGFA together to promote player health issues.

This is a fantastic achievement by local clubs and their participants and is a direct result of the communities participation in the RICHO Cup.

SGFA would like to congratulate the RICHO Cup organsing committe from Lugarno FC and Forest Rangers FC for their continued efforts in delivering this outstanding community event.

We all love playing our wonderful game at the weekends but at the same time we need to ensure that players who participate in our sport do so having undertaken the necessary background health checks to ensure they are fit to play the game.

Footballers are encouraged to get regular health checks and prevent more tragedies from occurring both on and off the football field.
