Georges River Council has appointed contractors to commence works on the construction of a new $950,000 sports amenities building at Claydon Reserve, Sans Souci.
The majority of funding for this project is through the NSW Government’s Stronger Communities Fund, which allocated more than $9 million to improve local infrastructure and services throughout the merged Council area.
The new works will feature public amenities, change rooms, canteen, storage facilities clubroom and undercover barbecue area.
Georges River Council mayor, Kevin Greene said that due to the high levels of participation in local sport, extensive consultation with all sporting codes and clubs was undertaken to ensure the new amenities meet the growing needs of each Association and Club.
“Through the council’s sporting clubs consultation process we are ensuring that upcoming sporting amenities meet the current needs of our community and the future demands of an increasing population,” Councillor Greene sai.d
“Georges River Council is committed to improving the facilities available for our community.
“This new sport amenities building will provide a range of benefits including increased accessibility and additional elements which make our facilities more inclusive for everyone in our community,” he said.
Work on the new facility is being undertaken by Jag Building and Bricklaying Pty Ltd and was due to start in mid-August and expected to take up to seven months to complete.
