St George Football Association (SGFA) is thrilled to confirm that Ador Avenue Synthetic will be officially opened this weekend by The Hon. David Coleman MP, Assistant Minister for Finance & Member for Banks and Mayor Bill Saravinovski and Councillors.

The SGFA received a $2 million Federal Government grant to fund the project at Rockdale in 2016 before asking Bayside Council to manage the design and construction process.

“Bayside Council has put a lot of work into this project and I am sure it will be a major boost for local sports clubs, our rising sports stars and our community,” Bayside Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.

The facility includes a synthetic football pitch, fencing, seating and a raised viewing area and SGFA General Manager Craig Kiely is thrilled that the facility can now be accessed.

“This type of facility is something that SGFA and our member clubs have been lobbying to have delivered for many years and we are excited that it is now come to fruition.

We are expecting a very large crowd on Saturday to help celebrate the opening of the facility and we sincerely thank both the Federal Government and Bayside Council for their tremendous support” Kiely stated.

The day will see local finals played, including the Mens Premier League Semi Finals, and also exhibition games played the SGFA’s Special Needs Program, the St George Warriors, and Development programs.

SGFA will also utilise the facility for Grand Finals over the following 2 weekends.
