Byadu brace sinks Connells Point FC

Southern Districts Football Association side Mount Pritchard got their day off to a winning start with goals in both halves from Frank Byadu securing the 14 Boys title for the team from the South West 2-0.

It was an energetic start from Mounties as they tested Thomas Alston in goals several times as the keeper made several key saves to prevent the score blowing out.

The early pressure from Mounties would result in the first goal 11 minutes into the contest as Khaled Yehia weaved past several defenders to place a shot which rebounded to Byadu to slam home.

Byadu was in the thick of the action the entire first half as a first time volley sailed wide as Connells Point couldn’t deal with the pressing from the leaders.

Rovers worked their way into the contest and had several chances on the counter but for some key interventions from Mounties keeper Dwayne Tusani included a catch right at the feet of an attacker.

Chasing the game Connells Point tried everything to get on the score sheet including an acrobatic effort from Christopher Gurang that fell wide.

Kareem Hussein produced a powerful effort that was once again tipped wide by Rovers keeper Alston as it seemed the second goal was coming for the Southern Districts team.

It took until the second half but Mt Pritchard made it 2-0 through Byadu again.

The winger showed good placement as he cushioned the shot off the post and into the net.

Mt Pritchard were in complete control now and peppered Alston in the final ten minutes to further their margin but some stoic defending kept the score-line down to only a two goal defeat.
