A meeting of interested people was called in November 1975 to form a soccer section of Oatley RSL Youth Club. The Youth Club wished to continue a sporting activity, (formerly the Youth Club ran Rugby League), on Renown Park as the Youth Club had the park on a 10- year lease from Kogarah Council.
Eight teams were formed and they competed in the St George Soccer Association in the 1976 season. The 10A(1) team were undefeated Premiers and went on to win Champion of Champions. The 7C team was undefeated Minor Premiers and Premiers. The following season saw a 100% increase in team numbers to 16, of which the Club won 5 Premierships.
This year, Oatley RSL has 59 teams with 668 registered players, (including 150 female players) and 143 coaches and managers. We have teams in all age groups from u6 to Over 45. This includes Premier League and 10 girls/women’s teams. We see ourselves as a family club where players of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Over our 40 years, continual improvements have been made to the playing field, lighting, and conditions for players, and coaches. A great asset to our Club is that much of the work that needed doing has been done on a voluntary basis.
