The new floodlights at the Arncliffe Aurora Football Club were officially turned on in the presence of Rockdale City Mayor Bill Saravinovski, Councillors Tarek Ibrahim and Nicholas Michovski, and General Manager Meredith Wallace on Friday 11 March.

Installation of the lighting system was made possible by a combined effort from the club members raising a staggering $60,000 and a further $40,000 in a State Government grant.

“I am thrilled to see so many great local clubs and organisations like Arncliffe Aurora receive funding through the Community Building Partnership program,” Member for Rockdale Steve Kamper said.

Rockdale City Council helped with the DA and running power for the lights. Council recently built new upgraded amenities in Arncliffe Park that include dressing rooms, referee room, new canteen, meeting room and storage area as well as a new playground for the kids.

“None of this was possible without the assistance of our members, club sponsors Saf Group, Space Architectural Design and the Electrical Energy Group who provided work in kind and Rockdale Council. This improved infrastructure will increase the use of the oval as well as broaden the scope of activities the facility can supporting. The club have wanted to train on their home ground since they were formed in 1991 and with the new lighting they can,” former Arncliffe Aurora FC President and newly elected SGFA Director Ali Jomaa said.

Council also recently approved installation of a new synthetic field at Arncliffe Park club which is expected to be ready for the 2017/18 season. It will also give Arncliffe Aurora FC one of the best facilities in the state at grassroots level.
