Brian Dene Appointed FSG Community Football Technical Director

Football St George is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Dene as its new Community Football Technical Director.  

Brian is well known to many in the football community having spent time with Sydney FC as the Head Coach of their National Youth League team, Assistant Coach of the NSW Institute of Sport’s football program, Head Coach of the Australian Schoolboys and Schoolgirls’, General Manager/Head of Football at Blacktown City FC where he was fundamental in the establishment of their women’s program and most recently at FNSW as their Technical Director Women’s and Girls.

Brian is a qualified Physical Education teacher, holds a Master of Education (Coach Education) from Sydney University and an AFC/FFA A-licence coach.

In announcing the appointment, Football St George’s CEO Craig Kiely stated.

“In a relatively short time, Brian has demonstrated his capacity and enthusiasm for youth development and the betterment of our young players and coaches in our district.

“With his previous history in both the boys’ and girls’ game we are confident that he has the necessary skills and experience to make a tremendous contribution in this space.  Most importantly Brian understands the grassroots space intimately and has a thorough understanding of the needs of our Association and member clubs.”

In being told of his appointment, Dene was delighted with his new role at Football St George.

“I am looking forward to this exciting challenge, working closely with local clubs and making a difference to football in the region.

“The number of talented males and females coming through our Association is testimony to the hard work and dedication of local clubs and their coaches and it is hoped that our future Socceroos and Matildas’ teams will have representation from the St George area.

My immediate focus is on community player and coach development which will include several coaching courses before and during the season.

I intend to get out to visit the local clubs and support everyone with a united passion to drive the game forward.”

Brian will commence this role immediately.
