Growth, access and competitiveness were among the key topics of discussion from the inaugural Female Football Forum hosted the St George Football Association on Wednesday.
More than 25 people attended the forum at the SGFA Offices at Jubilee Oval, including past and present players, club delegates and the SGFA Board.
Facilitated by SGFA Board Member, John Taylor, the forum aimed to discuss and map out how football can be improved for females within the district, as well as devise strategies to assist in recruiting & retaining females within the St George district.
The forum also welcomed special guests Hayley Todd, Head of Women’s and School Football at Football NSW and Ann Odong, FFA 2023 Women’s World Cup Bid who both shared their insights and knowledge on the development of women in football and how women can have a positive impact on the world game.
Other key points of discussion throughout the forum included whether the association is female friendly, if the correct facilities are currently provided for females and whether expectations are met for women/girls.
The St George Football Association will be holding a follow up meeting with all who were in attendance to continue the great work and discussion.
