CLUB IN FOCUS: HURSTVILLE ZFC

Hurstville Zagreb Football Club (HZFC) is a football and social club formed in 1970 by Croatian migrants in the St. George District.

We have provided the St. George, NSW and Australian footballing fraternity many players, some of whom have represented Australia at various levels such as Ante Čović, Richard Pleša, Ante & Joe Morić, Joe Vrkić and current Socceroo Tomi Jurić.

This year we have seen the club grow especially in women’s football which has seen 3 new teams in 2016.

Each Feburary, the Martin Knežević Cup is a 1 day, 6 a side tournament held at Carss Bush Park (Zagreb’s current home for its juniors and seniors) in honour of one of its hard working players, coach and friend Martin Knežević who passed away in 1996. 2016 saw 40 teams participate in this tournament, its largest ever.

We are a club proud of our rich history, roots, players, volunteers and welcome everyone to come join our family club and have the best čevapi rolls in NSW.
