Following the success of the inaugural Richo Cup, held in June 2015, Forest Ranger FC and Lugarno FC again invite all St George Football Association Clubs to participate in the 2016 edition.
The 2016 Richo Cup will be staged on Monday 13 June and is named in honor of former Forest Rangers Club member and passionate football advocate, Matt Richardson, who sadly passed away while playing the game he so loved.
Last year proceeds from the event assisted in purchasing defibrillators for every club in the SGFA, the biggest role out of defibrillators since the late Kerry Packer.
This year gives the St George football community another opportunity to raise heath awareness within our district, for our friends and families and continue the great spirit shown at last year’s Richo Cup.
Former Lugarno FC President John Taylor re-iterated the importance of the day.
“The Richo Cup is about publicizing the issue of women’s and men’s health that is the central message we want to convey to the football community.
“If more of our footballers get regular health checks and become aware of any health related issues and take action accordingly, then we may be able to prevent tragedies from occurring on and off the football field”, Taylor ended.
Forest Rangers President Tony Karahalias added “It is a great opportunity for all clubs of St George to once again unite together for a wonderful cause. We hope to have all SGFA Clubs represented on the day.”
The day is open to all registered players in the St George Football Association from 15 years (to very very old).
We encourage teams to be of mixed ages for both the men’s & women’s sides and to bring your families to enjoy the day.
Entries will close 22 May 2016. The entry fee is $ 400.00 per team which will include a Richo Cup jersey for each player in your club colours.
